Daily Devotion

Start or finish each day in God’s word, with devotions written by LCA/NZ members specifically for these challenging times. Sign up to receive Daily Devotion in your inbox every morning. Permission is granted to print and publish these devotions with this acknowledgement: ‘Reproduced with permission: Lutheran Church of Australia 2022’. If possible, please provide a link to the Daily Devotion archive page: www.lca.org.au/daily-devotion. LCA Communications is producing a week of devotions in advance in ready-to-print format for congregations to deliver to members. To receive a link to the printable sets each week, simply ask us, at lca.comms@lca.org.au. Click here to find the print versions of Daily Devotion. The Daily Devotions project is supported by the LCA Special Ministry Fund, which is made possible by the generous financial assistance of the LLL.

The seal of God

The angel said, ‘Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees, until we mark the servants of our God with a seal on their foreheads.’ And I was told that the number of those who were marked with God’s seal on their foreheads was 144 000. They were from the twelve tribes of… Read more

The day of judgement

Then the kings of the earth, the rulers and the military chiefs, the rich and the powerful, and all other people, slave and free, hid themselves in caves and under rocks on the mountains. They called out to the mountains and to the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the eyes of the… Read more

Divine worship

And I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, in the world below, and in the sea-all living beings in the universe-and they were singing: ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb, be praise and honour, glory and might, for ever and ever.’ The four living creatures answered, ‘Amen!’ And the… Read more

Constructive Knowledge

It is true, of course, that ‘all of us have knowledge,’ as they say. Such knowledge, however, puffs a person up with pride; but love builds up. Those who think they know something really don’t know as they ought to know. (Verses 1b, 2) Read 1 Corinthians 8: 1-13 There is a certain kind of… Read more

The wise honour the Lord

The way to become wise is to honour the LORD he gives sound judgment to all who obey his commands. He is to be praised for ever. (verse 10) Read Psalm 111 St John in the book of Revelation gives us a number of visions depicting worship in heaven: Day and night the living creatures… Read more

The Lion from Judah’s tribe

I cried bitterly because no one could be found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside it. Then one of the elders said to me, ‘Don’t cry. Look! The Lion from Judah’s tribe, the great descendant of David, has won the victory, and he can break the seven seals and open the… Read more

The vision of heaven

At once the Spirit took control of me. There in heaven was a throne with someone sitting on it. His face gleamed like such precious stones as jasper and carnelian, and all around the throne there was a rainbow the colour of an emerald. In a circle around the throne were twenty-four other thrones, on… Read more

The God who seeks us

‘Listen! I stand at the door and knock; if any hear my voice and open the door, I will come into their house and eat with them, and they will eat with me. To those who win the victory I will give the right to sit beside me on my throne, just as I have… Read more

The open door

‘I know what you have done; I know that you have a little power; you have followed my teaching and have been faithful to me. I have opened a door in front of you, which no one can close. Listen! As for that group that belongs to Satan, those liars who claim that they are… Read more

Strengthen what you have

‘So wake up, and strengthen what you still have before it dies completely. For I find that what you have done is not yet perfect in the sight of my God. Remember, then, what you were taught and what you heard; obey it and turn from your sins. If you do not wake up, I… Read more
