No-one but Jesus

by Linda Macqueen

Because of this, many of Jesus followers turned back and would not go with him anymore. So he asked the twelve disciples, ‘And you-would you also like to leave?’ Simon Peter answered him, ‘Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.’ (verses 66-68) Read John 6:60-71 At times I… Read more

When God doesn’t make sense

by Linda Macqueen

The people started grumbling about him, because he said, ‘I am the bread that came down from heaven’. So they said, ‘This man is Jesus son of Joseph, isn’t he? We know his father and mother. How, then, does he now say he came down from heaven?’ Jesus answered, ‘Stop grumbling among yourselves. People cannot… Read more

Back to basics

by Grace Simpson

When Jesus heard what had happened, he found the man and asked him, ‘Do you believe in the Son of Man?’ The man answered, ‘Tell me who he is, sir, so that I can believe in him!’ Jesus said to him, ‘You have already seen him, and he is the one who is talking with… Read more

God’s generosity

by Grace Simpson

You prepare a banquet for me, where all my enemies can see me; you welcome me as an honoured guest and fill my cup to the brim. I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life; and your house will be my home as long as I live. (verses 5,6)… Read more

Finding happiness

by Linda Macqueen

‘I am telling you the truth’. Jesus said. ‘What Moses gave you was not the bread from heaven; it is my Father who gives you the real bread from heaven. For the bread that God gives is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.’ ‘Sir’, they asked him, ‘give us… Read more

On eagles’ wings

When the people found Jesus on the other side of the lake, they said to him, ‘Teacher, when did you get here?’ Jesus answered, ‘I am telling you the truth: you are looking for me because you ate the bread and had all you wanted, not because you understood my miracles. Do not work for… Read more

Doing the impossible

by Linda Macqueen

‘After this Jesus went across Lake Galilee (or, Lake Tiberias, as it is also called). A large crowd followed him, because they had seen his miracles of healing those who were sick. Jesus went up a hill and sat down with his disciples. The time for the Passover Festival was near. Jesus looked around and… Read more

Just like dad

‘John is the one to whom you sent your messengers, and he spoke on behalf of the truth. It is not that I must have a human witness; I say this only in order that you may be saved. John was like a lamp, burning and shining, and you were willing for a while to… Read more

The real thing

So Jesus answered them, ‘I am telling you the truth: the Son can do nothing on his own; he does only what he sees his Father doing. What the Father does, the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. He will show him even… Read more
