Bishop Henderson recovering well
LCA Bishop John Henderson is recovering well in hospital in Namibia, Africa, having suffered a heart attack there on Saturday (13 May).
Bishop Henderson, who is in Namibia to represent the LCA at the Lutheran World Federation Assembly in Windhoek, has had two stents inserted to open the narrowing of veins and is now out of intensive care. He has been able to speak with his wife, Valmai, in Adelaide, and is in good care in a hospital ward.
It is hoped that he will be able to return home to Australia later this coming week as planned.
LCA Secretary Rev Neville Otto and LCA Assistant Bishop Rev Dr Andrew Pfeiffer asked people to continue to pray for Bishop Henderson in an e-newsletter sent out today on behalf of the church’s College of Bishops. ‘We thank God for his progress and thank you as you pray’, they said. ‘Please keep Bishop John, his wife Valmai, their family, and all who care for Bishop John in your prayers at this time. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, encourages us to come to him with our needs and is with us always.’
