Anti-violence coordinator appointed

3 March 2017

by LCA Communications
Ian Rentsch has been appointed as Coordinator of the LCA’s Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence Campaign.
A working group has been established to oversee the project, which was approved by the church’s general synod in 2015.
Ian said the role had a wide range of responsibilities, including raising awareness across the church, church leader and member training, and ensuring support for those in the church who are affected by domestic and family violence.
‘The church recognises that, tragically, family violence occurs across the community and that Christians, including members of the LCA, are not immune from its effects’, he said. ‘I hope that through this project, and other ministries of the LCA, that Christian Lutherans will grow in their understanding of love and respect for each other and will demonstrate this in their relationships with each other, in families and in church and broader communities.’
A former Director of Lutheran Community Care in South Australia, Ian has worked in management for Australian Red Cross and the Australian Association of Social Workers. Recently he has completed a Master of Arts Degree in Theology, through ALC.  He is a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Canberra, and supports worship activities at Campbelltown Lutheran Church, New South Wales.
