Tear of reconciliation

21 November 2018

When they arrived in the region of Goshen, Joseph had his chariot made ready and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel. As soon as Joseph appeared before him, he threw his arms around his father and wept for a long time. (verses 28,29)

Read Genesis 46:1-7, 28-34

Tears are a strange thing really. They make sense in the fact that they are our bodies’ flushing system for our eyes, to wash out dust particles and foreign bodies. But they also appear when we express grief, emotional hurt and of course hysterical laughter. They act as a way for us to vent built up emotion and often will make us feel better after we have had a good cry! Joseph did just that when he saw and hugged his dad after so many years – ‘He wept for a long time’

God the Father’s heart must weep for his lost sons and daughters as well. His love for you is immeasurable. He sent his one and only son just for you! Do you need to be reconciled to your Heavenly Father today, friend? He is waiting, are you willing? You may even shed a tear!

When was the last time you cried?

Thank you, Father God, for your love for me. Reconcile my heart toward you again today. Amen.
