On the level

7 March 2018

When Jesus had come down from the hill with the apostles, he stood on a level place with a large number of his disciples. A large crowd of people was there from Jerusalem and from all over Judea and from the coastal cities of Tyre and Sidon; they had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those who were troubled by evil spirits also came and were healed. (verses 17, 18)

Read Luke 6: 12-26

Jesus comes down the hill to be close to the people he loves. Now he’s within touching distance of those closest to him and those who want to be close to him. He comes to be close to you too, always and forever. He came down from heaven to live among us as a human being here on earth. Through his Spirit he continues to be with us today.

He’s here. Right here. Now.

Hear him, touch him, and be healed. Be healed of those taunting sins which come in the dark hours of the night. Jesus comes to heal you of your insecurities. From other people’s perspectives we all have irritating mannerisms and personality disorders. From God’s perspective they must be glaringly obvious! Jesus comes to heal you of whatever disorders you suffer from, whatever special needs you have. He comes to you on your level and rubs shoulders with you. He does this for all people. He is as close to you as breathing, and he stays close. What grace!

He’s here. Right here. Now.

Jesus, I’m listening when you speak the words I need to hear: ‘You are forgiven’. Thank you for healing me from my sickness of soul. Amen.
