New president for national churches body
Bishop Philip Huggins from the Anglican Church of Australia is the new president of the National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA).
Bishop Huggins, who has chaired the Anglican General Synod Ecumenical Relations Committee and has represented his church in a variety of roles on the NCCA, succeeds former LCA president Rev Dr Mike Semmler (pictured above).
Dr Semmler served as NCCA president from 2013. Another former LCA president, Rev Dr Lance Steicke, was NCCA president from 2000 to 2003. LCA Bishop John Henderson was general secretary of the NCCA from 2002 to 2008.
