by LCA Communications

Former Lutheran Education Queensland executive director Dr Roger Hunter has received an Order of Australia award in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for service to education, and to professional organisations.

Roger, from Indooroopilly Queensland, also was a board member of Australian Lutheran College from 1990 to 2010. He headed up Lutheran education in Queensland from 2000 to 2007 and has served on boards for St Peters Lutheran College, Indooroopilly, and Grace Lutheran College, Rothwell Queensland. Roger is a member at St Peters Lutheran Church Indooroopilly.

A member at St Andrew’s Lutheran Church at Glynde, in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs, Neville Hatwell also has received an OAM for service to education, to professional associations and to the community. A former teacher and local councillor, Neville was the inaugural secretary and is a former president of the Australian Primary Principals Association. He is also a former superintendent of the Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pasadena, in Adelaide’s south, and has served on many church committees.

Another OAM recipient is Murray Schache, from Mannum in South Australia’s lower Murray region, a member and a former elder at St Martin’s Lutheran Church there. His award comes for service to the community and to agricultural shows. He is a former vice-chairman of Lutheran Men of South Australia and has been involved with many community and church groups, including Lutheran youth, Meals on Wheels and various agricultural and show societies for South Australia and the local area.

The Queen’s Birthday 2016 Honours List recognises a diverse range of contributions and service across all fields, including professional endeavours, community work, Australia’s Defence Force and Emergency Services.
