Lutheran schools named national awards finalists

Nine Australian Lutheran schools have been nominated as finalists – or Excellence Awardees – in the Australian Education Awards 2021.

Living Faith Lutheran Primary School, Murrumba Downs, Queensland, is a finalist in the Primary School of the Year – Non-government section, while Faith Lutheran College Plainland, Queensland, is in the running for the title of Secondary School of the Year – Non-government in the annual awards, with the winners to be announced in August in Sydney.

Good News Lutheran School Middle Park, Queensland, is a finalist in the Best Remote Learning Program category, along with St Paul’s Lutheran Primary School Caboolture, Queensland, and also in the Best STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) category. Faith Lutheran College’s Junior School at Redlands, Queensland, is in the running for the award for Innovation in Learning Environment Design.

Immanuel College Novar Gardens in South Australia is again a finalist in the Boarding School of the Year category, in which it was also nominated in 2020 and 2019.

In individual awards categories, William Wallace of Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School, South Australia, is in the running for the title of Primary School Principal of the Year – Non-government. Katrina Russell from St Paul’s Lutheran Primary School Caboolture, Lauren Forsyth of Lutheran School Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, and Renee Wathen from Tarrington Lutheran School, Victoria, are all finalists in the Primary School Teacher of the Year – Non-Government section. Tarrington’s Sophie Sharp and Steffany Mylonas, of Redeemer Lutheran College, Rochedale, Queensland, are also finalists in the Education Rising Star of the Year award.

St Pauls Lutheran Primary School Caboolture has also been named as a winner in The Educator Australia magazine’s Employer of Choice 2021 awards.
