Electronic giving program turns 20
The LCA’s electronic giving program (REG) has been operating for 20 years and now collects more than $6.4 million in church members’ offerings annually.
According to the latest figures, there are more than 300 LCA congregations using REG, with 2400 individuals and families giving $533,500 a month through the system.
REG is facilitated through the LLL’s direct debit system and is administered free of charge as a service to the LCA. LLL Chief Executive Officer Allen Kupke said REG had been assisting church members to make their offerings in a convenient, secure and confidential way since 1997.
‘Today, electronic giving is widespread within the fundraising circles and is entrenched as a normal way of giving’, Allen said. ‘The concept has been so successful in many congregations that, in some cases, REG provides the majority of its budget. For anyone who is not yet using REG, it may well be the answer if you would like to be more organised with your giving.
‘I’ve personally been using it since day one and have found it invaluable in helping to manage my finances and ensuring that my offering is first-fruits giving.’
