Brought to life
You were at one time spiritually dead because of your sins and because you were Gentiles without the Law. But God has now brought you to life with Christ. God forgave us all our sins; he cancelled the unfavourable record of our debts with its binding rules and did away with it completely by nailing it to the cross. (verses 13, 14)
Read Colossians 2: 8-23
In The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint, a novel by Brady Udall, Edgar, at the age of seven, has his head run over by the mailman’s jeep. A chapter called ‘The Resurrection of Edgar’, tells how he dies in the hospital but is brought back to life by a doctor who gets his heart beating again by hammering on his chest twelve times. The boy is in a coma for three months but eventually makes an almost complete recovery. They call him the miracle boy.
There is a chapter in your life called ‘The Resurrection of [your name]’. You were spiritually dead because of your sins. But God took drastic action to save you. He sent his Son to give his life for you. In your baptism God united you with Jesus. He hammered on your chest and brought you back to life. You are a miracle person, living the new life that God has given you.
Never forget how God brought you to life with Christ. Keep living the new life God has given you.
God, thank you for bringing me to life with Christ. Help me to keep living the new life you have given me. Amen.
