Blood, sweat and tears

18 April 2017

But we do see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, so that through God’s grace he should die for everyone. We see him now crowned with glory and honour because of the death he suffered. It was only right that God, who creates and preserves all things, should make Jesus perfect through suffering, in order to bring many children to share his glory. For Jesus is the one who leads them to salvation. (verses 9,10)

Read Hebrews 2:1-10

My husband and I undertook to totally redesign and re-landscape our garden when the existing trees became too large and some were dying. It was a huge effort. We worked very hard, and sometimes we wondered if the ‘blood, sweat and tears’ were worth it.

Now that the new garden is established we can enjoy the fruits of our labours and say the effort was well worth it. We have the reward for our efforts.

When Jesus came to earth as a human being, he entered a sinful world and suffered indignity, pain and even death. However, he had a goal in mind: to save all of us from our sins and give us the reward of eternal life with him.

Now he is with his Father in heaven. He achieved his mission, and we can say with grateful hearts that his ‘blood, sweat and tears’ for us were well worth it. Praise God! We are the ones who are celebrating his victory, and we are the ones reaping the rewards, now and in eternity.

I praise and thank you, Lord Jesus, for your ‘blood, sweat and tears’ given for me. All glory and honour to you. Amen.
