ADD
Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and is now seated at the right-hand side of God’s throne. (verse 2)
Read Hebrews 11:32 – 12:2
It has always been a concern, but now teachers have a special name for a problem that plagues their classroom endeavours: it is called Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). With some it is just inattentiveness by another name, for others it constitutes an inability to concentrate at all.
It is a common religious ailment also. Forgetting what they’ve learnt about God, so many people fail to focus their attention on him, despite his central and pivotal position in their lives.
For us Christians, all the big questions are answered and all the big problems put into perspective when we ‘fix our eyes on Jesus’. He has made us right with God by his death on the cross, and he provides us with the faith we need to take hold of God’s promises.
No matter whether we have an acute or mild case of ADD (Attention to the Divinity Disorder), Jesus has the remedy – and all the answers!
Dear God, thank you for your Spirit and the faith he creates in me. Help me keep my eyes on Jesus and on the important truths you have revealed through your word. Amen.
