A new year to reach out
Lutheran Media staff have been busy receiving calls and answering emails from people asking for the Lutheran Media calendar. It’s advertised on our radio shows, our website and through social media. And we send them all over the world.
I answered a call from a shy man who had received the calendar the previous year. He thanked us for the calendar and said how much he loved the images and Bible texts.
He nervously went on to ask for two calendars. I replied that we’d be more than happy to send him two. He stopped me and wanted to tell me why he wanted them.
His sister had been a dedicated atheist and he had tried many ways over many years to help her believe in Jesus Christ. He’d almost given up when his sister noticed the Lutheran Media calendar when she visited him.
He decided to give it to her and explained to her about the clear boxes to write appointments in and daily references to Bible verses, all teamed with stunning photographs.
His sister didn’t think much of the Bible references but accepted the gift because of the beautiful images.
A few months later the calendar came up in conversation and he asked her what she thought of it. She loved the images and had actually started looking up some of the Bible passages. And to her surprise, the verses actually made some sense to her.
Leading up to the end of last year, his sister asked him if she could have another Bible calendar for the new year. She was now reading the Bible verses every day and had come to believe in Jesus Christ.
He was so excited to give it to her as a Christmas present.
